Its been quite a while since my last post - new baby and setting up my AmpedBikes storefront have really eaten up my time. But I've still managed to find time to ride and put my kit to the test. In fact, my shipment of new Amped tube batteries arrived last week and I've been testing out my own battery ever since. Was it worth the wait? Definitely!
Not only is this battery good looking and light, its very well designed with regards to its mounting position within the frame. Simply attach the bracket to the water bottle holes on your down tube, lock the battery in place with the supplied key and complete the required wiring. Although its not 100% plug and play, Danny's got the system pretty close - a little DIY attitude will take you far on this one.
I've easily shaved 10 minutes off my old 40-45 minute commute, and the sweat factor is way down. Even in these 30C+ Toronto summers! Over the next few days I'll be posting a more in depth look at this unit along with my sweet new ride. Stay tuned...

Ortlieb Downtown Bicycle Briefcase Review on ecovelo.info
A nice in depth review of Ortlieb's new Downtown bicycle briefcase. Looks like a great solution for those in search of a great looking bag, pannier and commuter do-all. I might have a new bag on my wish list!

Just a photo
I've been riding this old SuperCycle for over a week now while I wait for some parts for my Seek. There's something nice about riding one of these old cruisers around when the weathers nice.
A little note about this bike
I picked up a beautiful pair of his and hers 1970's SuperCycles (Canadian Tire branded bikes), that are actually old enough to be British Raleighs from head to tail. And all of this for the grand price of $250! These aren't mint, but for their vintage they are in excellent shape. Thank you Craigslist.

Check out the elevation on this route to work!
There's a great article on the ecovelo website about commuting and sweating - most of which I agree with. But check out the elevation on this commute I made the other day! No way of avoiding sweat on this one!!!

More AmpedBikes Tube Battery details
Just came across this tidbit of info on the AmpedBikes forum.
"I recently purchased the geared motor and asked Danny about he extra connections labeled not used. Here is his reply:
The extra leads are for PAS and connecting to computer. We have designed our own speed controller that will be embedded into the tube battery with wireless ant tech to the throttle and will sync with our iPhone and iPod Touch app for all the same functionality as the CA plus it has google map tracking and many other functions."
Very interesting!

Jtek Bar-end Shifter in stock!
I've just received my first batch of Jtek bar-end shifters and am very close to having my online store up and running. Hopefully I'll have my own installed this weekend so that I can take some pictures for everyone to see.
